Once downloaded and installed, the thing should work right out of the gate. A 32 bit OS with the 64 bit download may not work as intended. And download the version that matches your operating system. PS3 Media Server aka Universal Media Server is a free program that acts as a bridge between your PCs files and the ps3's ability to accept streaming. Accessing and disabling firewalls among other things seemed like a lot of hassle, and there had to be an easier way. But try as I might, I simply could not forge a stable enough connection between my PS3 and laptop. The PS3 is designed to accept media streaming from a wide variety of sources, up to and including Windows Media Player. But that's why I'd like to tell you how to pull off something similar.
